Alan Murdoch

Alan Murdoch FPGA, BSc - Director of Golf

Alan Murdoch has learned his trade as a teacher and player alike around the world. After graduating from North-East Louisiana State University, he became an assistant pro at Dalmahoy Country Club where he worked until taking up a teaching post in Hamburg. Whilst in Germany, he combined playing and teaching until he decided to play full-time. Now, after playing in the OMEGA Tour, the Nike Tour in the States, and the PGA Challenge Tour in Europe, he has returned to his native Edinburgh to become Director of Golf at Kings Acre Golf Course, on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Ian Butcher

Ian Butcher PGA - Head Of Instruction

Ian's primary interest throughout his career is to develop his knowledge and understanding of the golf swing and how golfers learn and improve their game on an individual basis. Awarded the Titleist National PGA assistants scholarship in 1999, Ian regularly attends education seminars, the European Teaching Conference and has been selected for the Scottish Golf Coach program since 2002. Ian represents Yonex UK as their technical Rep in Scotland. He also recently qualified as a PGA rules referee.

Paul Arthur - PGA Golf Professional.

Paul Arthur has been fully qualified as a PGA Professional for 6 years now after successfully completing his 4 years as an assistant, his primary interest throughout his career has been to develop his own knowledge and understanding of golf and how golfers learn and improve their game on an individual basis.

He played full time for a few years, mostly on the Tartan Tour but also on the Euro Pro Tour whilst taking his chances at the tour school to qualify for the European Tour. In 2006 he caddied on the European Tour and Challenge Tour from which he gained valuable experience in the development of his coaching skills.

Jamie Wales

Jamie Wales - PGA Golf Professional.

Jamie started playing golf as a junior member of the Montrose Links Golf Course. Having represented club and county regularly, his first professional appointment was at Burton-on-Trent GC. In early 2005 Jamie returned to Scotland to join the team of existing professionals here at Kings Acre Golf Academy. Having embarked on the PGA Degree Programme, Jamie has since furthered his knowledge and understanding of the industry and the golf swing.

Terry Mathieson - Retail Manager/Golf Administrator.

Terry graduated in 2003 with his BA (hons) Degree in Business Administration from Robert Gordon University. Terry joins the team at Kings Acre with six years experience of working in the golf industry having previously worked at the King Links Golf Centre in Aberdeen.

Terry is a successful amatuer golfer and currently has a handicap of +1. Terry has represented his district for 12 years and also represented the Scottish Universities. Terry is also a former Scottish amatuer semi-finalist in 2002 and Quater finalist in 2006.
