With a great range of experience and expertise, their passion for the game is only matched by their ability to provide sound, insightful and patient advice. Check out our team below.

Kurt Mungall - PGA "Advanced" Head Teaching Professional

Kurt has over 22 years experience as a PGA qualified golf professional, is TPI (Titleist Performance Institute), a certified club fitter and more recently Trackman accredited. Kurt, a Lothians Golf Association coach for 10 years has been heavily involved in junior development. Kurt has continued his professional development and is a keen student of the game. He adopts a "holistic" approach to game development & factors in all components to help golfers reach their potential. He developed his "route to success" assessment so golfers can identify the key areas they need to improve in, take their practice to the course and make practice fun!

Scott Thomson - Assistant Professional

Scott is a young and enthusuastic coach studying his 3rd year in the PGA. His data driven approach to golf has helped him compete across the country in Paul Lawrie's tartan tour and PGA order of merit where he has consecutavely qualified for the Coca-Cola british assistants championship. Using the precision of Trackman technology along with performance related training, you will learn not only where you can improve your game but how to play your own game.

Ross Millar - PGA "AAT" Head Professional

Ross has now worked in the golf industry for 7+ years, in which time has achieved very highly. A 2016 graduate from the PGA National Training Academy, Ross now holds PGA Qualified "AAT" Status after completing the required amount of CPD and also training his first assistant Dale here at Kings Acre. During his three-year FdSc Professional Golf Studies degree, Ross has gathered a wealth of knowledge on various topics ranging from golf coaching (his favourite) to business management. Described as a young enthusiastic coach, he is a credit to Kings Acre and looks to transform the game of everyone he teaches by focusing strongly on the fundamentals of the golf swing and to tailor goals based on each individual's needs. In his spare time, Ross is a football fanatic who enjoys following Scotland as part of the "Tartan Army" and loves to tell a story or two about his travels.

Alastair McLean - PGA "AA" Teaching Professional

One of Scotland's most loved PGA Professionals and former club professional at Duddingston GC, Alastair has now joined us here at Kings Acre. Alastair joined the team in February 2019 following a long and successful career as a club professional. He now concentrates fully on teaching and enjoys helping everyone from scratch golfers to complete beginners. He likes to remind golfers that "All scratch golfers started at the bottom" Butch Harmon.

Ian Butcher - PGA "AA" Teaching Professional

Ian, (often known as 'Butch'), first started coaching at Kings Acre Academy in 2003. He has been fortunate to coach and help a large cross section of players achieve levels of success in the game. A European Tour winner, Scottish Amateur Champion, internationalists, club and junior champions amongst others. Having delivered junior programs, area squads coaching and many individual lessons he has a comprehensive grasp of the techniques required. Ian is delighted to give lessons to all standards of players from beginners onward.
